McBee Demonstrates Faith and Positive Attitude at UMSL Optometry

Every month the Office of Student Services with the College of Optometry seeks nomination from the faculty, staff, and students of the college in an effort to recognize one student who exemplifies our student body.  This month's recipient is a true reflection on what we look for in a student at UMSL College of Optometry.

Kanesha was chosen as March 2016 Student Spotlight winner because she exhibits a positive attitude with a strong faith in conviction that anything is possible. She and her class are currently preparing for Part I of boards, yet she still  maintains a positive attitude and smile on her face.

Kanesha is always has a positive attitude and she is willing to offer encouragement when needed and doesn't hesitate to offer words of encouragement when needed. She also is willing to just listen!

In addition, she is always willing to help and offer advice for how to study and improve who you are as a person.  "Kanesha is one of those rare finds! She is always smiling and has that attitude of nothing is going to get her down," commented, Nick Palisch, Director of Student Services.  "She is a person that we are lucky to have on campus. She participates in many events and organizations.  In addition, she works hard and doesn't give up," Palisch said.

Kanesha fosters the family feel here at UMSL by making it a point to learn everyone's name and if she can't remember she will ask again or try to find out.  She doesn't know a stranger and will speak to everyone.  She always maintains a positive spirit.

Her education is her first priority.  Her strong faith and conviction is what keeps her going and she demonstrates this by her strong ethic and always positive personality!  Kanesha has big dreams and she is on track to achieve them.

Recently, Kanesha participated in a mission trip where she helped those in need and her spirit when she got back to campus was even more charged!

She is involved in many organizations, including  FCO,  Student Ambassador, SVOSH, AOSA,  NOSA, and others.   She is willing to lead and take action!

Overall, Kanesha is extremely dedicated to the profession and has a true desire to help others by ensuring they have the best vision and eye health possible.

"Kanesha is a bright star on a cloudy day. She is always shining, no matter the circumstance.  She impressed me the first day I met her at the interview and continues to impress and make me and others laugh today," commented Palisch.

Kanesha is also featured in our recruitment brochure featuring why she chose UMSL-Optometry!

Congratulations to Kanesha McBee on this Month's Student Spotlight!   We are lucky to have you as a part of the UMSL Optometry family!!!
