Every
month the Office of Student Services with the College of Optometry
seeks nomination from the faculty, staff, and students of the college in
an effort to recognize one student who exemplifies our student body.
The Student Spotlight for March 2015 is:
Nicholas Zahn (Class of 2017)
Nicholas received several nominations from students and faculty and staff for this month's recognition. In addition, Nick received a very nice email from a prospective student's parent about his customer service and help during a recent tour of the College of Optometry. The comments shared about Nick are indicative of the impact our students have on fellow students, prospective students and parents, and the college as a whole.
Here are the comments from those who nominated Nick
"My Daughter and I came to UMSL on Friday, January 30 to tour. Our tour guide, Nick was excellent. He showed us the facility and provided lots of information about the program. Nick is a great choice to advocate for your program and encourage potential students. She was feeling somewhat discouraged, however, after the tour and talking with Nick who told us he took "Super senior year" post undergraduate to take courses he needed and focus on the OAT test, she is more positive about continuing her pursuit of obtaining an Optometry degree. I cannot say enough about his knowledge or his willingness to encourage her to persevere in her endeavors. He gave her much needed advice which will hopefully help her succeed in her future goals. He was awesome. He deserves the recognition." -Parent of a prospective student.
"Nick goes out of his way to help others in our class, and is the most active class academic chair."
"Nick is someone that others can depend on and entrust that he will follow through on his commitments. He has a good attitude and looks out for the best interest of others."
Congratulations Nicholas on being the UMSL|Optometry March 2015 Student Spotlight winner!!!
